Sonja and I co-founded the Energy and Renewables Engineering Society together – an initiative to better prepare undergraduate renewables and energy engineers for industry, and to link industry firms with higher-quality relevant engineering graduates.

I met her through our mutual involvement with Engineers Without Borders’ Queensland, and quickly discovered that she was employed in the sector that I aspire to work in. After the meeting, I discussed this with her, and she enthusiastically agreed to take me on as her mentee through Queensland University of Technology’s mentorship program.

During our mentoring sessions, I’ve found her to be an exceptionally knowledgeable and highly insightful person. She genuinely enjoys giving back to the student community by sharing her knowledge, experience and enthusiasm. I have found my time spent learning from her to be totally indispensible, and I feel more knowledgeable than ever as a result of her mentorship.
